ArtWalk, Art Walk, artwalk — however you spell it, it’s a great way to showcase your work.
I’ve been in our local ArtWalk for the last two summers and this year to my surprise and delight one of my original designs was featured on the cover of the brochure.
While a number of art walks are brief — some run only a few days — this one goes all summer.
It’s a real feast for the eyes: paintings and watercolours, hand-dyed silk scarves, intarsia, barrel-fired pottery, stained glass, steel sculpture, felt and fibre art, sterling silver jewelry and more.
This year my work has been at Touchstone Gallery, a lovely shop in Uptowne Olds owned by Lorraine Shippobotham. In an age of mass-generated schlock and big-box stores it’s a breath of fresh air to walk through her door. Her many repeat customers seem to feel the same way.
If you’re in Olds, stop and say hello and check out her beautiful line of gifts.
