Handcrafted Jewelry — Designed to be Different

Thrift Store Treasure

Sometimes a pretty bauble falls right into your hands when you least expect it.

A trip to a small thrift store turned up this shiny apple pin. I knew right away it was something I wanted to work with. I was already buying some other things so Milton, the manager, threw the pin in for free. It seems no one was interested in buying it.

The vibrant pink called out for a playful design. After pulling off the pin back I checked out my bead stash. I chose big yellow beads to highlight the apple, then accented that with matte and glossy greens. And a couple of Swarovksi crystals just because.

Next step? A strap for the soon-to-be necklace.

Beads? What can I say — they snuck up on me when I wasn't looking. Now I'm hooked.

  1. Very cute & a neat transformation 🙂

  2. Very cute and cheerful! I found a red, white and blue rhinestone brooch the other day at a thrift shop. I had never seen rhinestones in quite these colors. I can’t wait to make a necklace out of it. Don’t you just love when something out of the ordinary falls into your lap?
