Handcrafted Jewelry — Designed to be Different

Rose Garden Necklace

I fell in love with beaded cabochons years ago yet somehow never got around to making any. A large part of my reluctance came about because, well, I simply didn’t know where to start.

Eventually desire overcame reluctance. I found some wonderful books that took me step-by-step through the process. I studied others’ work. Finally, I began to make my own.

What I start out with isn’t always what I end up with, but isn’t that part of the creative fun? I’m still learning technique — I don’t think one ever stops, no matter what sort of beading one does — and I’m now turning out pieces that people are buying. And that’s the real test.

Beads? What can I say — they snuck up on me when I wasn't looking. Now I'm hooked.

  1. How pretty! Is the white background in the first two photos a backing that you’re sewing onto?

    • Thanks, Lindley. The backing is called Lacy’s Stiff Stuff. It comes in several different colours. You can also dye it. Enjoyed looking at some of your pieces and reading your blog. Good stuff.

  2. Sally, your necklace is just beautiful. You do such intricate and beautiful work. I just stare with my mouth open!!! You’re an inspiration.
