Yowzer. August is shaping up to be a good month. (Mind you, when you live in The Great White North any month without snow and below freezing temperatures is a good one.) But … it’s even better when your work gets a chance to shine.
This month I’m the featured artist on the Wellspring Visual ArtNetwork website.
Wellspring is an association of Central Alberta artists. It was founded in 2006 to give rural and small-town artists more opportunities to showcase their work. It’s a wonderful mix of artists and art forms — painting, photography, fabric, pottery, wood turning, stained glass, water colour, lampwork, wood carving, jewelry and more.
Wellspring also sponsors ArtWalk, a two-month celebration of Central Alberta artists. Five towns are taking part this year. You can download the brochure from the Wellspring site. It shows locations for each artist along with a photo of his or her work. Touring around these towns is a great way to spend many enjoyable hours. And who knows? You might find just the piece of art you were looking for.
