Nose Creek Park. Hot soup. Music. Art. A silent auction. Fun for the whole family. And free admission. Yowzer. What a deal. 🙂
Empty Bowls, an international event, started in 1990 in Michigan. A high school art class was searching for a way to raise money for a food drive.
The solution? The students made ceramic bowls and then held a fundraising meal. The menu was simple — soup and bread. Guests were invited to keep their bowls to remind them of hunger in the world.
You’ll have an opportunity to purchase a bowl too. For a $20 donation you can fill it with delicious hot soup. And you can keep the bowl. Sounds like a lot of fun for a very good cause.
I’m delighted to be taking part in Empty Bowls this year. I’m donating a piece of my jewelry to the silent auction and I’ll be at Nose Creek Park on Saturday June 23 from 11 to 5 showing some of my newest work.
